Karim Khan (1) will head a new business stream at Kier Support Services. The venture will draw together the company’s facilities management, M&E, structural design and plant hire operations

Robert Smith (2) has become chairman of Management Recruitment Group ahead of a significant expansion by the executive search agency. Previously he was managing director of Hays Construction & Property.

Mukund Patel (3), formerly head of schools capital at the Department for Children, Schools and Families, has joined GEMS Education, a leading provider of private education. He will be responsible for setting up schools in the Middle East, India, South Africa and South-East Asia.

Halstead Boilers has appointed Gren Ward (4) to be marketing director. His CV includes positions with Potterton and Baxi.

Derek Duffill (5) has been chosen to become managing director of the renewable power generation business Ener-g Holdings as part of its expansion.

Hulley & Kirkwood Consulting Engineers has appointed Chris Jones and John Shearer as associates. Jones is an electrical associate for the Cardiff office and Shearer is a mechanical associate for the London and Epsom offices.

Kevin Butler has joined the cable management specialist Cablofil as sales manager for London and south-east England. Neil Christie (6) will take responsibility for customers in Scotland.

Steve Cowan has joined Buro Happold’s sustainability and alternative technologies group in Glasgow as a consultant.

Peter Woolliscroft has been appointed managing director of the London Area Procurement Network set up by a consortium of 10 arm’s-length management organisations to deliver their maintenance programmes.
