SAS International is offering one lucky building services engineer the chance to learn all about teamwork from the experts at the Hungarian Porsche Supercup/F1 Grand Prix in August.

The Supercup is the fastest international one-make-cup in the world and features professional teams and drivers competing in identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racecars. It is staged across the world as the support race to the Formula One World Championship.

SAS has a car running in the race and is offering a team of construction professionals a four-day trip to Budapest to watch and learn from the experience. It intends to include a building services engineer, a contractor and an architect in its Porsche Supercup entourage for four days of intense competition from 2-6 August 2007.

The construction specialists will be able to experience firsthand the teamwork and professionalism of motor racing at the highest level. They will be able to see how the race engineers, IT engineers, drivers and of course the sponsors work together to win. Over the four days the construction team will be involved with team decisions affecting planning, engineering and marketing; they will also experience testing, qualifying and racing in this highly competitive environment and gain an insight into the process of competing in a Porsche Supercup race. In return, they will get the opportunity to broaden their core management skills.

Most time will be spent in the Porsche Supercup compound and paddock. During racing and qualifying the team operates in the pit lane along side the F1 teams. There will be ample time for participants to experience the atmosphere and camaraderie of F1 racing.

The package includes

  • Return flights and accommodation for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Porsche passes for three days
  • Porsche hospitality for three days
  • Grandstand seat for F1 Hungarian Grand Prix
Flights leave Thursday night, returning Monday morning/afternoon. Expenses for the duration of the trip will be covered by SAS International.

All you have to do is agree to write a few hundred words about your experience and what you learnt from the world of motor racing that is applicable to building services and construction. We’ll feature the report on the BSj website: www.bsjonline.co.uk.
