These giant “Supertrees” will be at the heart of the environmental strategy at a new city garden to be built in Singapore.

Designed by environmental engineers Atelier 10, the Supertrees will help cool the two large glass houses that make up part of the Gardens by the Bay project. The two glasshouses will be home to cool-moist and cool-dry environments. The Supertrees are described as the “environmental engines” for the cooled conservatories incorporating devices for water harvesting and storage, air intake and cooling, photovoltaic arrays, solar collectors and desiccant drying.
