Cover up

Bewator has launched a new range of custom covers and a Remote Transmission unit for its Solaris dome camera.

The custom covers enable installers to alter the camera's appearance to blend in with the surrounding environment. They enable the cameras to be more aesthetically pleasing, particularly on older or heritage buildings, which still require security, but do not want modern cameras to spoil the appearance of the building.

The RTU has been designed to extend the distance between the camera's location and external transmission unit, enabling the camera to be maintained and controlled from a separate location. It can be placed up to a maximum of 30m away from the dome, and provides localised power to the camera.

Pixel power

Dallmeier's Cam_inPIX range of dome cameras is comprised of three models: an analogue colour minidome (DDF3000A), a vandal-resistant analogue colour minidome (DDF3000AV), and vandal-resistant IP colour day/night dome (DDF3000IPV-DN).

Cam_inPIX technology converts the picture information of each individual pixel digitally at the point of capture, and processes it in the most optimal way. This allows scenes with a great range in contrast to be recorded and documented at previously unseen picture qualities, according to Dallmeier.

It claims the domes are able to produce 'outstanding' results when monitoring foyers with glass facades, even during strong sunlight.

    C-All PTZ cameras

CBC has launched C-AllView, a new range of high speed, day/night PTZ cameras for harsh and challenging environments, available in either matt black or cream.

The ruggedised model is sealed to IP67, making it suitable for external applications where physical abuse and extreme environmental conditions are likely. It features optically flat glass which is distortion-free, giving brighter, clearer images at higher zoom ranges. CBC says this allows system designers more flexibility in positioning cameras in adverse conditions.

It is cast from aluminium, hard anodised and powder-coated to ensure protection from scratching, oxidisation and attack from solvents. The replaceable front glass window is also toughened and features a wiper to clear dirt and water. SignHear please

The SignHear Signature Verification device from Sign Assured has the ability to 'listen' to hand-written signatures and then matches these to a set of user templates in order to identify a specific person.

The manufacturer says that "in doing so it is capturing information about the rhythm, speed and pressure points during the action of signing – information which is rich in features and difficult to replicate. Additionally, the device tracks how our signatures change over time and compensates for these variations. Its ability to adapt to the user and the environment makes it suitable for most modern-day workplaces."

The technology was originally conceived by Rolls-Royce Aerospace to 'listen' for sounds which characterise the onset of structural defects in aeroplane engines, and Sign Assure was established as a Rolls-Royce joint venture company.

The company says SignHear is able to show up fraudulent intent. "It shows that the customer intended to carry out the task in question, and it is no mere mistake they have submitted their signature."
