As my term as ECA president draws to a close, I reflect with pride on the past year working among staff and fellow officers. Activity is at an all time high, as the ECA never stands still on behalf of its members.

Significantly this year we have seen the ECA’s purchase of Elecsa. This has presented opportunity to ensure healthy competition is maintained between the five authorised Part P schemes while guaranteeing that the highest standards of safety are upheld. With our proven track record for best practice, the ECA is well placed to help Elecsa contractors meet Part P requirements.

The ECA also continues to work with partners to drive change on health, safety and environment issues. An example was the the core criteria – the competency guidelines for contractors and clients successfully launched by the ECA together with the HVCA. We have also strengthened our commitment to assisting members in becoming aware of green issues with the implementation of a free environmental advice service.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the forthcoming president continued success for the Association and members in the year ahead.
