PIUK (Professional Institutions UK) arranged a launch event on 13 September at the RIBA HQ in Portland place. The event involved 100 guests, including representatives from the professional bodies who are working with PIUK to develop links with China.

PIUK China (Built Environment and Engineering) is a collaborative venture of 15 UK professional institutions with interests in China, including CIBSE, BIFM, CIAT, ICE, RIBA, RICS and CIOB.

The venture was initially designed to focus on developments in Shanghai but intends to roll out to the whole of China in due course.

• A dedicated joint bilingual website has been set up at www.piuk-china.com to provide a portal to all the member websites.
