Rain couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of participants in the regional finals of the Building Services Golf Championship. Now it’s on to the the Belfry for the grand final…

The inaugural Building Services Golf Championship has been an overwhelming success, despite one of the wettest summers in history. Players from across the m&e industry battled it out in the three regional qualifiers for a place in the Grand Final at the Belfry on 23 and 24 September.

EMC made sure competitors were well looked after. Bacon rolls at breakfast ensured everyone made it to at least the ninth hole, where fresh fruit refuelled them to carry on to the 18th. A drink or two in the clubhouse was followed by dinner, during which the winners were announced.

Post-competition education and entertainment were provided in equal measure by the PGA’s golf professional Simon Wordsworth, whose swing analysis was a highlight for many.

And so to the final. Sponsors and qualifying readers will see the final day of the European Tours Quinn Direct Masters and play the same course the next morning.

EMC wishes each of our qualifying pairs and our much-valued sponsors the very best of luck at the Belfry. The results of the final will be published later in the year.

"First class venue, great surroundings and a course in perfect condition. Organisation was smooth and professional. A very cheery welcome from the team and a hearty breakfast. Après-golf was just as good, gathering in the bar for expert tuition/tips from the professionals, along with some laughs."

Ian Twydell, winner at Bowood Park

"I and my partner won the Division 1 prize at Hanbury Manor and are looking forward to playing at the Belfry. The event was very well organised and the sponsor gifts were welcome. Compliments are due overall. Many thanks."

Steve Faulkner, Team Q Maintenance

"With BSj and EMC magazines behind it, the Building Services Golf Championship will clearly be a regular event in the industry calendar, and Potterton Commercial is delighted to be involved. The heats were a perfect opportunity to entertain key customers."
