NICEIC and Select have launched an information platform for the Scottish building services industry that allows companies to register as approved bodies, appoint certifiers and give them the ability to manage the certification process.

Scottish Building Standards legislation allows the appointment of approved certifiers for design (building structures) and construction (electrical installations to BS 7671). This removes the need for detailed scrutiny of designs or inspections by verifiers.

“This is a convenient service for the industry and enables a quicker and easier certification process for contractors,” said Angus Moir, chief operating officer of the NICEIC Group.

See www.sbsc.uk.net for more information.

NICEIC has announced a price freeze on registration fees for all new and existing contractors for 2008/2009.

The group has also launched discounted workwear, special rates on vehicles, a recruitment website and identity cards.
