The 43,000 m2 structure was designed with the help of two British firms, architect Grimshaw and engineer Arup, who worked with two Swiss-based practices, Itten + Brechbühl and Ernst Basler + Partner. The sweeping curved steel of the design spans the 250 m passenger hall. The project team also included cost consultant Perolini Baumanagement.
