Laing O'Rourke boss Ray O'Rourke has enlisted the support of his son Cathal to oversee part of the firm's work on the £2.5bn Heathrow Terminal 5 scheme.
Cathal, who is in his mid-20s, is understood to be a section manager on the T5 job overseeing hundreds of workers.

Site sources claimed that Cathal's role on the project could get bigger as he is showing promise. One source said: "He is exceeding his targets. He's a bit of a star."

A Laing O'Rourke statement said: "Cathal O'Rourke is a graduate engineer currently working at Terminal 5."

  • Laing O'Rourke has targeted four major retail schemes, market sources claimed this week.

The firm is pitching for the retail element of the Heathrow Terminal 5 scheme, two shopping centres in Cambridge – called the Grand Arcade – and in Liverpool for developer Grosvenor, and also a scheme in Dubai.
