Pre-Budget submission makes the case for investment in schools, transport, power and green housing

Building took its Charter 284 campaign to the heart of government this week with a representation to chancellor Alistair Darling ahead of next month’s Budget.

The campaign, which aims to convince the main political parties of the wider economic and social benefits of investing in key areas of construction, now has the support of more than 50 of construction’s biggest companies, its major trade bodies and more than 150 individuals.

Building sent a list of supporters so far to the chancellor this week together with a letter arguing the case for government action to support the industry for the greater economic benefit to the UK’s economy.
