The Low Carbon Buildings Programme phase 1 has been relaunched, though the maximum allocation has been slashed from £15 000 to just £2500. The programme was previously critisized for running out of funding too quickly, so the government is hoping to meet the demand this time round by offering smaller sums to individual applicants.

The controversial monthly cap, however, has now been abolished. Other changes include the requirement of advanced planning permission and shorter grant offer periods.

The funding, which is available to householders who wish to install renewable energies, is available from 29 May 2007. The government has pledged £11.9 m in total.
