£120m company to provide integrated solutions for clients

Kier is launching a new facilities services business by bringing together its building services and managed services operations. It will specialise in providing a full range of hard and soft facilities services, building maintenance services and m&e engineering services, which can be integrated into a single contract.

Starting on 1 November, the new brand – Kier Facilities Services – is being created by merging two of the Group’s established operations: Kier Managed Services (KMS) and Kier Building Services Engineers (KBSE). The new division will have a turnover of around £120m and more than 1200 staff operating from bases in London, Cardiff, Basingstoke and Sheffield.

Kier Facilities Services will be headed up by Colin Hale, who was appointed managing director of KMS earlier this year, having built a strong track record in developing successful facilities and property management businesses.

He said: “This merger will enable us to provide a truly nationwide service to support clients. The formation of Kier Facilities Services is a significant step in our drive to compete in this marketplace at the highest level.

“KFS is equipped to offer a one-stop solution for the whole life-cycle of clients’ property requirements, from design and installation of building services to long-term care and maintenance of their built environment.”

By combining Kier’s key strengths in m&e design and installation, building services maintenance and facilities management, the new company will be able to target a wider range of national opportunities.
