Bovis Lend Lease’s rule of annual contractor’s league is usurped by Laing O’Rourke’s £1.4bn contract wins

Laing O’Rourke has snatched the top slot from Bovis Lend Lease in the annual league, having won three deals worth £341m in May. The wins took Laing O’Rourke’s annual total of projects to £1.4bn, compared with Bovis’ £1.3bn.

The result took Laing O’Rourke up seven places to the top of the contractors’ league for May. The main win was a £300m PFI hospital contract in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This involves the consolidation of the Freeman, Royal Victoria and Newcastle General hospitals.

Sir Robert McAlpine came second after winning three contracts worth almost £130m.

The other rolling yearly table showed their customary stability, although Bennetts Associates rose from nowhere to 10th in the architects’ league and WT Partnership rose from fifth to second spot in the the QSs’ table.
