The specialist contractor selects Prysmian’s FP200 Gold cable to power alarms in critical-research centre.

University College London’s new Institute for Cancer Studies is using Prysmian’s FP200 Gold fire-performance cable to help ensure the safety of more than 350 scientists who are currently involved in critical areas of research.

The 14 month-long development houses researchers investigating aspects of cancer prevention, early detection, basic biology and novel therapeutics.

The £35 million research centre, which is based in Bloomsbury, central London, covers five floors.

Chelmsford, Essex-based contractor Fisk Fire Group opted for FP200 Gold cable to power the extensive analogue addressable fire alarm systems.

The installation process was simplified by the application of Prysmian’s AP7 cable clips.

Senior estimator Tel Fisk says: “From a practical point of view, the cables look good once installed, providing a clean finish to complement the building’s contemporary design.”
