The ECA has announced the appointment of Steve Bratt in the newly created position of chief operating officer.

Steve’s main role as chief operating officer is to enhance the delivery of services and to oversee the ongoing improvement in value for money enjoyed by members.

David Pollock, ECA director, said: “Steve has hugely relevant experience, which I know he will put to good effect in ensuring the ECA competes effectively in the marketplace.”

In addition to his executive roles, Steve is also non-executive chairman of Pavilion Housing, and until recently was also vice-chairman of First Step Housing.

Steve joins the ECA from Magna Housing Group, where he was group business development director and managing director of a number of subsidiary companies involved in property development. He also had responsibility for organisational development and marketing.

In his previous role as group commercial director of CORGI, Steve established and managed a diverse range of business units. These operated in such areas as accreditation and certification, publishing and membership services, training and consultancy, promotion and events and digital printing.

In addition, he managed the marketing and PR functions.

During his time with CORGI, he significantly increased the turnover of its commercial activities and, in recognition of this achievement, was included in the DTI list of Britain’s top 200 businessmen and women in 2002 and 2003.

Steve said: “I am delighted to be joining such a well-regarded organisation at what is a very exciting time in its evolution.

“I hope my skills and experience will help to ensure the ECA continues to deliver highly valued services to its members, and positively contributes to the development of the electrical sector.”

Steve is 43 years old and lives with his wife and three children in Church Crookham, Hampshire. He has a masters in business administration and a diploma in company direction. He is also a chartered director.
