Leaders from across the m&e sector have joined forces to organise an industry-wide summit highlighting critical issues affecting the supply chain.

Hosted by the ECA and the HVCA, the one-day conference, The Building Services Summit, is expected to bring around 250 companies to the new Wembley stadium on 24 October, representing clients, main contractors and m&e contractors.

Sponsored by tool and equipment manufacturer Hilti and chaired by Professor Rudi Klein, chief executive of the Specialist Engineering Contractors’ Group, The Building Services Summit will discuss how the industry can face up to the challenges and opportunities posed by sustainability, productivity and occupational health and safety issues.

Following a keynote address from Sir Michael Latham, top industry speakers will provide a range of perspectives from across the supply chain, including:

  • Vaughan Burnand, chief executive of Shepherd Construction;
  • Neil Pennell, director of project engineering, Land Securities;
  • Glenn Hawkins, head of project improvement, BSRIA;
  • John Moore, managing director, Balfour Kilpatrick;
  • Trevor Walker, chairman, Constructing Better Health;
  • Paul Coates, head of supply chain, Mansell.

Derek Gow, head of building services at official sponsors Hilti, said: “There are some critical issues on the agenda for m&e. We want to give contractors the opportunity to hear several different perspectives on these, including the client and the main contractor.”

The Building Services Summit is on Wednesday 24 October from 9am to 4pm at Wembley Stadium in London. The event is supported by Constructing Excellence, BSRIA and the SEC Group. The conference is free for ECA and HVCA members. To find out more please visit: www.bss-2007.com.
