The government will be handing out grants of up to 40% of the cost of biomass installations through a new £4 million fund.

Money will go to projects for biomass-fuelled heating and combined heat and power projects, including anaerobic digesters. The government seeks applications from industrial, commercial and community sectors. Applicants may range from small businesses such as pubs, shops or farms, to offices, golf courses, recycling centres and supermarkets, up to larger businesses such as breweries and airports. Applicants from the community sector may include schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, local authorities, housing associations and charities. The maximum grant for each project will be £100,000 and there is a six-week application window with no minimum grant threshold.
