A busbar solution is claimed to save more installation time on site.
The Canalis KDP flexible busbar trunking range from Telemecanique, a brand of Schneider Electric, offers electrical contractors an easy-to-install cabling solution for lighting systems. The company claims that busbars offer a 35% time saving over a traditional cabling solution, with a further 20% saving from this flexible approach.
It is specifically designed for use where the trunking is not required to support the weight of luminaires. It has a rating of 20 A, and is available in three or five conductor versions with factory fitted tap-off connector studs at intervals of either 1·5 or 3 m. It can be supplied with standard pvc or lsf low-smoke, low halogen insulation. KDP trunking is delivered as 24 or 192 m lengths on convenient reels.
Accessories offered include standard tap-offs, pre-wired tap-offs that offer substantial time savings, and fixing components for the attachment of trunking to metal cable racks, structural steel work, concrete slabs and wooden structures.
Also included in the KDP range are pre-configured switching units. Rated at 10 A, these provide facilities for phase selection so that loads can readily be balanced in three-phase installations. They use spring terminals to allow rapid wiring, and are optionally available with GST1813 connectors.
