Consultant aims to double Birmingham workforce as it moves to larger offices

Multidisciplinary consultant White Young Green has announced ambitious plans to double its workforce at its new Midlands headquarters in Birmingham.

The firm moved into new four-storey premises near the city’s Jewellery Quarter this month, to allow for the planned growth that would increase staff numbers from 45 to 100.

The consultancy, which currently houses a mix of M&E, civil and structural engineers, project managers and rail and environmental experts, is looking to bring in planning and management services professionals as well.

The project management arm works mainly for public client Defence Estates.

Divisional boss Keith Ashford said there was a three-year target for doubling the workforce, but added: “That’s not the ceiling. Provided the business is coming through and we are delivering the quality of service we know we can, that’s not the cap. The company has given a great commitment to see Birmingham become one of its main offices.”

Ashford said the market in the West Midlands was still buoyant. He observed: “There is a lot of prospective activity in Birmingham, as well as in the Black Country generally. It’s a tremendously exciting time.”

The firm has operated in Birmingham for 10 years and expanded significantly last year with the acquisition of the Solihull office of DWP Consulting, the Leicester/Birmingham based M&E consultant.
