Engineering consultancies White Young Green and Hilson Moran have made purchases to increase their overseas presence.

WYG has acquired PH McCarthy & Partners in Ireland for £13.5m. The consultancy specialises in large public infrastructure projects in the water and highways sectors as well as private construction work. It will become part of WYG Ireland and brings the firm’s staff count to 670 across nine offices.

Hilson Moran has acquired Italian consulting engineer Milanoprogetti. The announcement accompanied the launch of a new identity for the firm’s Italian arm, as Hilson Moran Italia.

Hilson Moran is already working on numerous projects in Italy, including Porta Nuova Varesine, a 110,000m2 mixed development.

Managing director Chris Plummer said the acquisition represented “a good fit” for Hilson Moran. “We have been working with the firm for some time, and combining our knowledge and international resources with Milanoprogetti’s local knowledge and delivery capability will enable us to offer a high-quality service.”
