A memorial for the women of the Second World War was bolted together in preparation for tomorrow’s unveiling by Her Majesty the Queen.

The memorial is 6.7m tall, 4.9m wide 1.8m long, contains a time capsule, and is cast in bronze. It depicts 17 representations of the different uniforms and working clothes worn by women during the war.

Appleyards Consulting project managed the assembly of the monument and it will stand in the centre of Whitehall.
