London has won its bid to host the 2011 WorldSkills competition, the Olympic Games of the trades sector.
The move has been welcomed by Keith Marshall, chief executive of SummitSkills, who said: "WorldSkills 2011 represents an enormous opportunity for the UK's building services engineering sector.
"The competition will help raise the profile of practical skills, encourage people to consider the vocational option and promote excellence. We now need to encourage the industry in this exciting competition to ensure our sector puts its best young talent forward."
WorldSkills is an international biennial event, which sees young people from around the globe compete in a variety of trades, including electrical installation, to be acclaimed best in the world.
