The ECA’s 2007 accident figures indicate that work-related injuries have halved over the past six years.

The statistics highlight the success of ECA’s Zero Accident Potential (ZAP) programme.

Since its launch in 2001, ZAP has sought to help member firms implement effective safety measurements. The end result has been a 50% drop in Riddor-reportable accidents.

Figures also indicate a 59% fall in major accidents during the same period.

David Pollock, ECA group chief executive officer, said:

“I commend our members for achieving such significant improvements to their safety performance.”
