The newly formed William Sutton Group has leapfrogged into the top 10 of registered social landlords after a merger.
William Sutton Trust was joined on Monday by two new subsidiaries, Ridgehill Housing Association and Tor Homes, to create a housing group with 24,000 homes, a turnover of £75m and almost 900 employees.

The new group would occupy position nine in the most recent list of the largest RSLs in England and Wales, released in March 2003. The list, compiled by the Housing Corporation, is based on the number of houses owned and managed. Before the merger, the trust was 16th in the table.

The subsidiaries follow Aashyana Housing Association, which joined the trust in 2001.
