Having been a construction manager and now a health and safety adviser, I know how hard it is to get compliance from managers and operatives.
I was therefore shocked to see, in your article headlined ‘Here comes trouble!’, the wildlife being thought of and considered, but not the operative or his workplace in the picture.
No shirt, no high-visibility tabard, shorts, and no gloves. And what about the scaffold on the right hand side? No edge protection, no mid or top rails, no toe boards, no brick guards. No means to prevent men or materials from falling off. Lapped boards and trestle supports spaced too far apart, and where is the access ladder?
Can you highlight the errors in the next issue and consider having all your site pictures reviewed by a competent person prior to their inclusion.

The photo was chosen to best show off our model animals. Thanks to readers for pointing out the health and safety shortcomings. However, photos published in CM cannot be taken as examples of best practice or CIOB-approved methods, nor as an accurate record of wildlife sightings – Ed.
