Mark Smith (1) has become director of Ramboll Whitbybird’s building services team. He joins from Gifford, where he headed the London services team. In his new role he will drive the growth of the London branch of Whitbybird’s building services group.

Northumbria University has appointed former building services consulting engineer Steve Hodgson (2) as dean of its school of the built environment. Hodgson is a former CIBSE regional chairman and member of the institution’s degree accreditation panel.

Gas specialist Crowcon Detection Instruments has appointed Warren Rees (3) as managing director. Previously he was MD of Fire Fighting Enterprises.

Mark Hannam (4) has rejoined Leeds-based building services engineer Morfitts as maintenance services manager. He began at the firm as an apprentice service engineer, staying for 20 years before leaving to gain experience with other organisations.

Paxton Access has nominated Tom Cowling (5) to be large projects manager. He will support and manage Net2 access control installations.

Paul O’Gorman (6) is the new sales development director, value added solutions, at Armstrong. He will be responsible for leading the firm’s UK sales effort.

Gifford has expanded its buildings capabilities with the appointments of Brendon Gilbert as an energy champion and Clive Everett as an expert in building facades engineering.

Steve Bosi has joined WSP Group to develop the facade engineering portfolio. He was previously with Arup Facade Engineering.

White Young Green Ireland is to recruit 35 graduates to serve across the company. 

Lesley Dinnett has been appointed to develop Buro Happold’s environmental team in northern Europe.
