In response to Jon Battle’s letter (Naming question remains, QS News, 2 December), my answer would be as follows:

a) The IC05 contract refers to a named person – in the singular; lists of more than one sub-contractor would not therefore satisfy this condition.

b) You can do anything by agreement but, assuming the old IFC responsibility for completing the Intermediate sub-contract invitation to tender (publication eagerly awaited) continues to rest with the architect/contract administrator, presumably Jon Battle would have to be prepared to obtain tenders from all the proposed listed sub-contractors.
