Since responding (Letters, BSj 12/07) to Sam Hunt’s query regarding our lighting load figure for classrooms, we have reviewed how we interpreted the data supplied to us by BRE.

Unfortunately, we have found that there was an inconsistency which in some cases could result in a small error in the figures used in previous versions of our VE Compliance software. We would like to thank Sam for his sharp eyes and apologise for any confusion our response in BSj may have caused – 3.75W/m2 per 100 lux lighting load is the correct figure for classrooms in the notional building. All of our customers have already received the relevant replacement templates. A new version of the software (V5.8.2) is due out this month and will, of course, include this correction, as well as our initial EPC modules.
