The 2003 SITO 'Award for Outstanding Practice by a Training Provider' has been won by Andy Walker, a specialist in the field of door supervision (and creator of the Safer Doors programme) who has recently been advising and working with the Security Industry Authority on licensing of door staff – which begins in 2004.

"For over ten years, Andy has devoted himself to the cause of door supervisors, working tirelessly to make this sector a genuinely professional contributor to the secure environment," said SITO director Stefan Hay at the recent SITO National Conference (see 'Swap shop', pp30-33).
