Wakemans wins £29m college scheme

Wakemans has been appointed on the new £29m Centre of Excellence in Rugby, which developer St. Modwen Properties is building on behalf of Warwickshire College.

Wakemans is acting as project manager, quantity surveyor and planning supervisor on the project, which is located between Junction One Retail Park and Murray Road in Rugby and scheduled to start on site in 2007.

The facility will replace existing buildings in Lower Hillmorton Road and all of the college departments currently based there - including modern languages, travel and tourism, construction and art, design and multimedia - will relocate to the new centre.

The Rugby centre will house an Advanced Engineering Centre for the Construction and Technology Faculty. The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board also hopes to have a regional base in the building.
