12:00PM Construction and property consultant hires a QS and four trainees

Construction and property consultancy Wakemans has appointed a newly qualified QS and four new trainees at its Birmingham head office.

Wakemans’ director Adrian Aston, said: “It’s important for young people to gain experience as well as working towards professional qualifications, and our in-house training programme is designed to offer both trainees and experienced staff the opportunity to develop their careers throughout their employment with us.”

Ben Pugh, a recently qualified QS with a BSc (Hons) in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying from Wolverhampton University, is already working on several projects including the new £12m headquarters for Instarmac Group at Tamworth. Pugh is also training for his RICS qualifications at Wakemans.

Trainees Andy O’Connor, Amanveer Bassra, Laura Curran and Mehran Salari will gain QS qualifications through Wakemans’ in-house development programme and at Wolverhampton University.

Curran said: “I’m working on projects for Castlemore mainly and hope eventually to become a project manager.”
