CIRIA has published a toolkit focusing on value and risk management in construction.
Integrating Value and Risk in Construction is intended for both clients and construction professionals, and aims to help them integrate existing value management, value engineering and risk management methodologies throughout all stages of a construction project – allowing them to retain the tools they usually use. On successful completion of the building, it can then be picked up by the facilities team who can continue the process throughout the life of the building.
The toolkit provides a road map for identifying and agreeing the client’s objectives for the project, with particular attention to the opportunities and uncertainties these present.
The procedures set out in the toolkit aim to ensure that the built facility meets those objectives throughout its life and represents best value.
Integration toolboxes are provided for each stage of project development and these are supported by guidance on workshops, guided discussions and development of a communication plan. The toolkit is supported by a CD-ROM, which contains electronic proformas, and a PowerPoint presentation.
Integrating Value and Risk in Construction (C639) is available from www.ciriabooks.com and costs £40 for members, or £80 for non-members.
