Urban resistance: Lambeth council has postponed its latest attempt to evict the members of a community of squatters living in the borough's Kennington area.

The eviction was scheduled to take place last Friday but was called off at the last minute after opposition from remaining residents.

Crime writer and former squatter Jake Arnott (pictured) joined more than 100 people to resist the council's attempts to disconnect the power supply and begin demolition of the remaining 14 terraced houses. People have been squatting in the properties since they were bought under compulsory purchase and earmarked for demolition in 1976.
