The east and south-east of Leeds have been ear-marked as a huge 1,700 hectare regeneration zone after housebuilder Bellway signed a joint venture with the city council to spend £1.2bn overhauling the area over the next 20 years.

Although the project was launched in March, Isis has already sold 30 of the 282 properties, making £4m. When it is completed in 2009 the 2.61-acre, former car park will have shops, restaurants and a 300-bed hotel.
