On the waterfront …

A former industrial site beside the Thames in Deptford, south-east London, is to be redeveloped after more than four years of planning negotiation. George Wimpey City and Hays have won planning approval for 247 homes, offices, an art gallery and retail space in a new tower and a refurbished grade II-listed warehouse. The scheme, called Payne's and Barthwick Wharves, is designed by Assael Architecture.

The long-term strategy to regenerate Glasgow's Clyde Waterfront continues apace at Glasgow Harbour with Dandara developing the second phase. Its GH20 scheme, designed by Murray and Dunlop Architects, comprises 774 apartments arranged in eight blocks, up to 22 storeys high. Construction has just started on the first three-block phase, which will comprise 282 apartments.
