Schneider Electric has won a contract as the sole supplier of variable speed drives to United Utilities.
The guaranteed £1.8 million spend over the next three years is for the supply of the complete Altivar range from the Schneider brand Telemecanique, covering outputs from 0·18-500 kW.

Ninety per cent of the work will be for the supply of drives for new applications, with the remainder involving replacing drives for improved efficiency.

Most of the drives will be used in pump applications, although some fan applications are included in the programme. The contract also includes technical advice.

United Utilities has 374 major projects and around 250 minor works to carry out over the next three years.
