Weir and McQuiston has ensured 19th-century industrial advances come face to face with 21st-century technology by installing Electrak busbar trunking for lighting and small-power needs at the Summerlee Heritage Park Museum in Scotland.

Located in Larnarkshire, the museum has been showcasing Scotland’s industrial heritage since the 1980s. Much of the industrial machinery on display is still in working condition.

A £10 million refurbishment has updated and extended the exhibition space with a new entrance hall and cafe, education suite, conferencing areas and a makeover for the conservation workshops.

The refurbishment has seen the building stripped back to the steelwork. The electrical kit-out involves new power and lighting, fire and intruder alarms, cctv, switch room and substation.
