Contractors appointed to deliver infrastructure projects in London and the South East
Four firms have been appointed to a £1.2bn Network Rail framework for improvement works in London and the South East.
The firms appointed to the five year framework are:
- VolkerFitzpatrick
- Costain
- Bam Nuttall
- Osborne
The appointees to the framework will deliver almost half of Network Rail’s £2.5bn investment plan for the region over the period.
Projects will include building longer platforms; new footbridges; upgrades to existing bridges, embankments and tunnels; and station enhancements.
Nick Elliott, southern regional director for infrastructure projects at Network Rail, said: “The number of people travelling by rail has more than doubled in the last decade and is predicted to grow by a further 400m by 2020.
“To help meet this growth in demand, our plans for the next five years will help deliver a 20% increase in the number of seats into London at the busiest times of day. We’ll do this not only through big, high-profile schemes, but also by targeted investment.”
VolkerFitzpatrick will look after the Anglia region; Costain will work across Kent; Bam Nuttall will work across Sussex; and Geoffrey Osborne will look after the Wessex region.
