TPAS is in discussions with the UK’s nine pathfinders and the ODPM to address what it sees as a failure to appropriately engage residents in the future of their homes.
Phil Morgan, TPAS chief executive, said: “Pathfinders need to develop a much more comprehensive resident approach. They need to do more listening and more engaging …
“At the moment many residents only find out about pathfinders when they’re told of plans to demolish their home. This is why there are so many demonstrations in places like Rochdale and Liverpool,” he said.
A spokeswoman for Newcastle Gateshead pathfinder said: “We’re happy to talk to TPAS and gain good practice from other pathfinders.”
