james tickell, The outgoing deputy chief executive of the National Housing Federation, has been made acting chief executive of troubled Shaftesbury Housing Association.
Shaftesbury's former chief executive Charles Clayton left in March just 10 months after starting the job (HT 26 March, page 13). Shaftesbury went into Housing Corporation supervision in September and received critical reports from the Audit Commission and the corporation. The reports criticised the group's governance and levels of voids.

Tickell began at Shaftesbury on Monday but will work for the NHF for two or three days a week until the end of May. He will take annual leave to work for Shaftesbury.

Tickell will not be replaced as NHF deputy chief executive. A new communication director will be hired instead.
