Finite Element Analysis

A seminar and exhibition, including a demonstration of a selection of finite element (FE) analysis software for the design of concrete flat slabs, is being held by The Concrete Centre. A set problem will be solved live at the event using FE packages including Robot Millennium, RAM concept, FEM and Sofistik.

Benefits of Soil Stabilization

The Concrete Centre, in association with Britpave, is to hold two seminars in May examining the sustainability and economic benefits of soil stabilisation. Tours

The Concrete Centre is hosting a tour to the Benelux region to study modern methods of construction (MMC). A variety of concrete housing systems will be examined, including tunnel form, which has attracted the attention of Prince Charles as a construction method for his Poundbury showcase development.

The tour will also allow delegates to see how the systems are manufactured, transported and assembled on site. They will see how the use of concrete MMC can improve construction efficiency and quality, environmental performance and delivery timescales.

Factories specialising in prefabricated housing systems will be visited as well as a 200-unit four-storey tunnel form project at Beverwijk.
