The Hackitt report has laid out steps to improving safety in the wake of Grenfell – now action needs to be taken
This month the government launched its consultation on how to implement Dame Judith Hackitt’s recommendations on building regulations and fire safety, prompting Building to dedicate its Building Live Club event last week to the issues and questions raised in the 200-page document. The afternoon event in central London, attended by over 100 people, consisted of two panel debates featuring a range of experts and specialists, most of whom have been working with the government since the Grenfell disaster in 2017 to improve construction industry practices and bring about a wholesale culture change among the professions and trades.
