The £74 million Eden project is now open.
Part-funded by the Millennium Commission, the botanical garden scheme consists of three interlocking domes, the largest reaching 100 m wide and 45 m high, in a former china clay quarry near St Austell, Cornwall. M&E contractor MJN Colston selected emergency lighting systems from PB Design for the humid tropics zones. Lightning protection was supplied by Nottingham-based Protectis. Ove Arup was the project's services consultant.
