Comelit says its SIMPLEBUS 2 was the first patented door entry system built on two-wire digital technology. The system not only allows you to carry out new installations in the easiest and quickest way possible, but it also allows you to replace existing bell or audio systems by video entry systems without replacing the existing cabling infrastructure.
"In the past few years SIMPLE-BUS has been copied and implemen-ted by other manufacturers but so far all the two-wire systems on the market require either a local power supply unit connected to the monitor or a central power supply unit plus two additional wires in the riser which is not therefore a true two-wire system. Comelit Group, however, is one step ahead," the company claims.
"SIMPLEBUS 2 in fact is a genuine two-wire system, power supply of the monitors included."
With Simplebus 2 it is possible to install video door entry systems where the monitors and handsets are connected with only two wires.
The two wires of Simplebus 2 (which are non polarised and do not have to be necessarily twisted) carry not only the audio and video signals, but also data and power for the monitors. This technology allows you to further reduce both the cabling and the equipment costs as well as the number of wires required. In addition, a handset can be easily replaced by a monitor in the case of mixed door entry systems.
Concierge switchboards, no limits to system configuration, a large choice of entry panels and other additional features make SIMPLEBUS 2 an extremely flexible and highly performing system, suitable for any kind of door entry installation.
With SIMPLEBUS 2 it is possible to have up to 240 users with the entrance unit up to 600m from the furthest monitor.

Designer style
Electro-Replacement Ltd has introduced a range of audio and video door entry systems that combine state-of-the-art electronic technology with designer styling. The door panels are available in one to 10 station versions and can be flush or surface mounted with in-built rainproof covers.
The aluminium covers give a lasting weather-resistant finish and incorporate illuminated metal pushbuttons for ease of use.
Each kit comprises a door panel, handsets or monitors, 12v AC lock and 12v AC power supply suitable for din rail or surface mounting. Up to three handsets or monitors per station can be fitted.
Both audio and video versions give high quality, secure communications between caller and monitor or handset, while the video version incorporates an adjustable tilt camera and infrared light to ensure the camera operates at night.

'Ideal' for door entry
Comelit's Idealkit is a door entry phone system which can be used on either two wires or the more tradi-tional five wires. Using the comp-any's trademark blue LEDs, it can be expanded to accommodate a further two handsets in parallel to enable users to communicate with visitors from more than one point of entry.
The entry kit also uses larger name labels to allow easier identification, and gives improved audio quality.
The Idealkit can have a surface mounted entrance panel that only protrudes 25mm from a finished wall. Flush mounted entrance panels are also available.

BC becomes Farfisa
Specialist door entry supplier BC Access Control has changed its trading name to Farfisa Security Products to reflect the direction and growth of its business.
BC Access Control used to import different brands of door entry and access control systems, but in the past 18 months the company has switched its focus to increasing the range supplied by Farfisa in Italy.
More than 95 per cent of the products available are now from the Farfisa stable.
"We are delighted with the support from Farfisa, which reflects the strength of our working relationship with them," said sales director David McGinn.
"We hope that our new brand identity and awareness will become clearer for our existing and new customers."

Backlit keypad
From BPT Security Systems comes the Targha range of door entry panels. A new surface mount panel features a backlit 12-key keypad to provide secure entry.
The keypad allows 100 codes to be stored, so they can be used for blocks of apartments with each person having their own personal code which can be three to five digits long.
The new Targha keypad panels come in audio and video versions. The audio panel comes with one button for door entry request and can be used at the gates of a single house. The number of buttons can be increased for multiple properties by using an expansion plate alongside the keypad panel. This allows for up to 12-split button controls per additional panel.
The video version incorporates a monochrome or colour camera alongside the keypad panel. To request entry, up to four buttons can be on the video panel or there can be either three or six split buttons on the Targha keypad panel.
All the panels can be flush or surface mounted and can be used with any of BPT's door entry systems.

Complete package
Videx Security provides a range of audio kits that come as complete packages for installers. They provide effective access control for the home or work and are easy to install.
The EK911 is a one-to-one system consisting of a phone unit, a one button door panel, power transformer and carrying case. The Two Wire Kit allows a complete door entry system to be installed using only two wires between the door unit and the indoor unit.
The basic system comes with two handsets, enabling separate call zones to be established. An electronic call tone facility enables internal calls to be distinguished from external calls, as well as the door buzzer.
The Digiphone kit has the added benefit of a digital codelock that gives extra security and convenience while the Minikit range offers high quality and reliability at a low cost.

Control from the armchair
This provides a simple means of controlling access to a house from the comfort of an armchair.
This will be especially advantageous for the elderly or those confined to home through disability. The basic kit includes a surface or flush mount door panel complete with integrated speech amplifier, call button and a colour camera complete with back lights.
At the other end of the system there is an audio telephone with a lock release button, a power supply unit and the scart interface. 3m of cable and scart plug are also provided.
The operation of the system is simple. A call is activated by pressing the button at the door. The television will then automatically switch to its AV channel to show a colour picture of the caller.
At the same time, the audio telephone will ring and answering it will enable two-way speech and the option to press the lock release button.
When the call ends, the television will automatically switch back to the previous channel. Another kit is also available which includes the Art280N1 telephone interface instead of the Videx intercom telephone.
This enables the caller to be viewed on the television as with the other system but also enables speech and lock release to take place from the standard household telephone.
