I was surprised to read Pete Jeffery's approach to age discrimination ("Job doctor", 5 September, page 34).
Where age is not included in CVs, he calculates it through education and professional qualifications.

There is impending legislation on age discrimination but, given his approach, does this mean that, like other anti-discrimination laws, it will be ineffective? Will those responsible for recruitment continue to see age as important, rather than place emphasis on an individual's skills and abilities irrespective of age?
