12:00PM PH Warr appointed QS, Kingsbury Homes PM for house in exclusive Sandbanks peninsula
Consultant, Terence O'Rourke has gained planning permission for a striking new contemporary designed house on Panorama Road in Dorset. PH Warr has been appointed eco homes advisor and QS, with Kingsbury Homes acting as PM for the exclusive house in the Sandbanks peninsula of Poole.
Technical director, Terry Williams, responsible for the architectural design said: “Externally, the architecture draws inspiration from elements of New England and colonial homes. Inside, three distinct activity areas have been created to reflect the different uses of entertaining, family and circulation.”
The team have also tried to achieve an eco homes rating of excellent. Green measures include making use of renewable energy sources for the building’s heating and hot water. A bore hole will be drilled for a ground source heat pump and there will be solar collectors on the roof.
The spacious, split-level, three-storey house on Panorama Road capitalises on the prominent waterside position, with extensive views of Brownsea Island and Poole Bay.
The architects have opted for a palette of natural materials. The entertainment wing, for instance, has a colonial feel with solid locally sources stone walls, timber shutters and overhanging roofs to protect the external terraces that extend across the building. New England timber boarding gives warmth to private family areas, which overlook the external terraces. Glazed circulation space with an enclosed courtyard separates the two wings.
Poole Borough Council granted planning permission for the new home on 1 September 2006.
The scheme started on 20 September and is expected to complete by December 2008.
