He had been embroiled in a row with senior management after being refused a place on the national board. The place was reserved for a black or minority ethnic candidate but Proudlock believed this was discriminatory.
On Monday Ian Cheetham resigned from the South Yorkshire and East Midlands committee in support of Proudlock, who was asked to leave after a row with the association's chairman and chief executive.
Norah Meurer, a member of the Yorkshire committee, has threatened to resign but decided to stay and fight for Proudlock instead.
Other tenants committee members are believed to be considering their positions.
Cheetham, who has been involved with Northern Counties for 10 years and sat on the national board for three years, said: "Proudlock's case sets a dangerous precedent for future tenant members who dare to challenge the association. I hope it will take notice of the strength of feeling there is about this."
Meurer accused senior members of the RSL of refusing to allow board members to discuss Proudlock's case at a recent meeting.
Northern Counties chairman John Thomson said: "Like many housing associations, Northern Counties is committed to ensuring its board and committees reflect the diversity of the communities it serves.
"Regrettably Mr Proudlock refuses to accept this principle, despite the overwhelming support it has received from our wider membership and our prolonged and sustained attempts to reach an understanding with him."
