Turner & Townsend is poised to submit the planning application for a second terminal at Dublin Airport within two months.
T&T has seconded 16 staff to the airport, after being appointed earlier this year to programme manage its €1.2bn (£820.56m) development plan.
Mike Collings is the lead programme manager on the 10-year scheme, which involves 130 separate projects. These include the construction of the second terminal, a new satellite pier called Pier D, an extension of the existing terminal, a new runway, new internal roads and new boarding gates.
The first major element of the construction programme, the €120m Pier D boarding area, is already underway and is due to open in 18 months. Structural steel for the pier is arriving on site next week and the first of the building’s 13 cores was recently completed. The pier will be a two-level building containing 12 new boarding gates, plus shops and cafes. It will be able to handle 10m passengers per year.
The new terminal is due for completion in late 2009.
