Turner & Townsend has teamed up with IT firm BuildOnline to launch a new extranet system specifically targeted to deliver the Office of Government Commerce's (OGC's) eight frameworks recently awarded to T&T.

The QS and porject management group has retained BuildOnline as their preferred supplier of IT systems and specialist support to provide document and process management, e-tendering, project approvals and knowledge capture, in an effort to promote the OGC's plan to foster integrated teams and collaborative working.

Rob Edwards, director of T&T's government team, said: "This rolling agreement with BuildOnline, which has the option to continue until 2011, provides an effective solution to streamline the procurement process, which is in line with OGC best practice of transparency and auditability."

BuildOnline managing diretcor for northern Europe Bob Godfrey said: "We created BuildOnline with the idea to help project teams collaborate cost effectively and to be up and running rapidly. T&T is a great example of how our customers are using our innovative solutions to improve business efficiency and quickly see a return on their investment."

The extranet system, which operates from any PC with an internet connection and requires no specialist software, has already been adopted by a number of highly sensitive client departments and has proven that the system is robust and secure.
